Paediatric Occupational Therapy Mildura

SUPPORTING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES THROUGH PLAY, CONNECTION, AND EVERYDAY ROUTINES

Our Occupational Therapy service supports children from birth to 10 years of age to build the foundations for learning, play, participation, and independence.

We work with neurodivergent children (including autistic children and those with ADHD), as well as children with developmental differences, disabilities, or sensory and emotional regulation needs. Therapy celebrates each child’s unique strengths, interests, and ways of interacting with the world.

Sessions can take place at our Irymple-based practice or within the community, including your child’s home, school, kindergarten, childcare centre, or other familiar settings — supporting skill development in the environments that matter most.

What We Support

Our OT service helps children develop the skills and confidence they need to participate meaningfully in everyday life. We support children with:

  • Fine and gross motor skills – building coordination, balance, strength, and confidence in physical play and handwriting

  • Sensory processing and self-regulation – supporting children to understand their sensory preferences and develop strategies to feel calm, focused, and comfortable

  • Attention, organisation, and planning – strengthening executive functioning skills such as focus, sequencing, problem-solving, and flexibility

  • Emotional regulation and social participation – nurturing self-awareness, empathy, and positive connections with peers and adults

  • Everyday routines – developing independence in dressing, feeding, toileting, play, and other self-care activities

Therapy is individualised, evidence-based, and delivered through play and meaningful experiences that help children learn and generalise skills across home, school, and community life.

Our Approach

At Home On A Hill, we believe every child grows best through play, connection, and authentic relationships.

Our Occupational Therapist uses a family-centred, neuroaffirming, and strength-based approach, recognising and celebrating each child’s unique developmental profile. We partner closely with families, educators, and other professionals to create consistent, practical supports that align with your child’s natural routines and interests.

Our approach focuses on:

  • Understanding each child’s sensory, emotional, and developmental needs

  • Using play to build engagement, confidence, and readiness for learning

  • Empowering families with practical strategies that can be used across home, school, and community settings

  • Supporting self-regulation, autonomy, and identity in ways that affirm each child’s individuality

  • Creating therapy experiences that are fun, achievable, and deeply respectful of each child’s way of being in the world
